✦ Synopsis
For the voids coalescence type of fracture of elastic-plastic material, the parameter of critical void growth rate and related criterion have been developed by Zheng and Radon. This criterion has an obvious microscopic physical meaning and can be determined by macroscopic method. In the present paper, the criterion of critical void growth rate is considered that also can be applied in determination of cracked body's fracture initiation. According to this point of view, the process of large elastic-plastic deformation until fracture initiation of three point bending (TPB) specimen made of Steel DE36 under monotonic loading is simulated using finite element method. The ductile fracture criterion V is employed in the computation. The estimated results by computer are in good agreement wtt .g experimental ones.
