✦ Synopsis

The static magnetic field induced magnetisation densities of two uranium based heavy-fermion systems have been determined in spin polarised neutron scattering experiments at temperatures of T = 5 K and T = 10 K, respectively. Both compounds show a significantly different magnetisation density. The various contributions are identified. In UPt, the polarisation of conduction electrons is important, but in contrast the magnetisation density in UBe,, is observed to be of a pure uranium Sf-electron character with no indication of any conduction electron contribution due to polarization by the external magnetic field. Both heavy-fermion compounds have in common a small value of the aligned .5f-electron magnetic moment which is well described by a spherically symmetric model. However, UPt, and UBe,, differ significantly in the contributions of the conductions electrons.

While the effects of static magnetic fields (SMFs) on osteoblastic differentiation are well demonstrated, the mechanotransduction pathways of SMFs are still unclear. The aim of this study was to explore the role of calmodulin in the biophysical effects of SMFs on osteoblastic cells. MG63 cells were

The technical limitations of electroencephalography (EEG) and flashed visually-evoked potentials (VEP) recordings in the static magnetic field of the MR system were systematically studied. A main artifact occurring in the magnetic field was found to be correlated with the heart cycle and had amplitu
