✦ Synopsis
This study compares the rates of single renewal and return from the home loan of English language books of The Ohio State University Libraries across subjects and patron status. The chi square test of equal proportionality is used to make comparisons between data sets. Findings show differences by subject and patron status for single renewal and return. When the renewals were compared to books that were checked out and then simply returned, the renewed books were kept longer. The slow return of renewals suggests that consideration be given to penalities for overdue renewals. Also, various strategies using publicity should be tested in order to find ways to increase the percentage of books returned by the due date.
