Two type one-step methods involving radiation-irducecl or catsl;rtic procedures are currently available for the general deutsration ani/or tritiation of synthetic horwnes and steroids*. Of the radiation-induced techniques, the Wilzbach gas exposure procedure3 is the most useful but is-limited only to tritium. Mere possible, the catalytic method involving exchange with isotopic watar in the presence of heterogeneous Group VIII transition metals is to be preferred.
