β¦ Synopsis
Compared the frequency of abnormal Impairment Index values and abnormal results on neurodiagnostic rocedures in atients ( N = 102) classified Brain-damaged, Normal, or Equivocal on tge basis of final medical diagnosis. The Impairment Index called a higher percentage of the Braindamaged Ss abnormal than did any single neurodiagnostic procedure. Although it called a higher percentage of the other two grou s abnormal than did the skull X-ray, the Im airment Index did not di&r from com uted tomogra hy (CT).or the E8G with res ect to abnormalit rates in ttose groups. Ti?, in t h s sample of patients, t%e Impairment In&x was more sensitive to brain damage than any neurodiagnostic measure, yet no more likely to call patients in the other two grou s abnormal than were CT or the EEG. Limitations of the study and difficukes in conducting this kind of research are discussed.
