Abstraet~Two quadrilateral elements with rotational degrees of freedom at the corner nodes are compared in the analysis of reticulated structures. A trade-off between accuracy and cost is always the case when dealing with approximate analysis tools. This study is concerned with the analysis of reticulated structures using three approaches: the conventional theoretical tools, the macro element idealization using Allman quadrilateral elements, and the Yunus mixed quadrilateral elements implemented in the equivalent strain energy approach.
