✦ Synopsis
After a r t h r o g r a p h y 71 young patients with pain in the knee had a c o m p u t e d t o m o g r a p h y (CT) examination. The form of the patella is classified according to the m e t h o d o f W i b e r g [12] and on CT 50% of them do not c o r r e s p o n d to the type described on the axial r o e n t g e n o g r a m . The position of the patella can be examined on CT with a relaxed knee in 15 degrees of flexion. The patellar cartilage is easier to assess on CT: congruity, regularity, imbibition of contrast material, a n d thickness are studied.
