✦ Synopsis

Thermogravimetric analyses of a styrene-methylene type copolymer and pol?(a-methyl styrene) have been carried out using standardized experimental techniques. Tests have been made on four of the best methods reported in the literature for analysing the data to extract the activation energy for the decomposition reaction. It is concluded that the method suggested by Oszwa is the most reliable but has no advantages over the more traditional approach of carrying out isothermal investigations.
