✦ Synopsis
Several variants of the Gordon-Kim method are tested by comparing the c&x&ted interatomic potentials of homonuclear inest*~atoms with experiment. If is concluded that t\ho variants, the first due to Lloyd and Pugh and the second to Clugston. both of which use the dispersion series at long rang&are the most reliable. These h%o methods are used to predict the parameters of the Hgz potential arid it is found that, in contrast to the inert gases, the t%o sets of prediction are signi% cant& different_
