✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A compact printed ultra‐wideband (UWB) elliptical‐slot antenna with 5.2 GHz/5.8 GHz band‐notched characteristic is presented. A complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) is etched inside the inner patch to obtain band‐notched function. The proposed antenna is a uniplanar structure and occupies a compact area of 25 × 25 mm^2^ only, which covers the frequency band from 2.7 to 13 GHz (VSWR ≤ 2), and the obvious band rejection performance in the frequency band is of about 5.1–6.0 GHz. The antenna demonstrates omnidirectional radiation patterns across nearly whole operating bandwidth that is suitable for UWB applications. The prototype has been fabricated and tested, and the measured results agree well with the simulation. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
