Abstract
A novel compact multiband planar inverted‐F antenna for Bluetooth, satellite digital multimedia broadcasting, wireless broadband, world interoperability for microwave access, and wireless local area network applications is presented. The proposed antenna, fed by a 50‐Ω coaxial line, occupies a compact volume of 24.3 × 8.2 × 2 mm^3^. The bandwidth is 19.4% (2.28–2.77 GHz) and 47.7% (4.04–6.57 GHz) at VSWR < 2.5, and the measured maximum gain is 4.95 dBi at 6.3 GHz. The commercial electromagnetic software CST Microwave Studio is used to optimize the design parameters and the simulated results are well in agreement with the experimental results reported in this article. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
