## Abstract In this paper, a new microstrip stepped‐impedance hairpin resonator with interdigital capacitor (IDC) slow‐wave band‐pass filter (BPF) using dielectric supported air‐gapped microstrip line (DAML) of surface micromachining on GaAs substrate is proposed. Unlike conventional slow‐wave filt

✦ Synopsis
waveguide excited in the TEM mode supported by one-sided and two-sided ideal hard walls.
It has been shown that the performance of the one-sided hard waveguide depends on its radius, and such a wall provides better performance compared to the corresponding ordinary empty waveguide only for radii exceeding the value of ϳ0.6.
The rigorous analytical solution obtained here for the two-sided ideal hard waveguide shows that such a waveguide is characterized by 100% aperture efficiency and the complete absence of the cross-polarized component, independent of the waveguide radius. Moreover, the field of the reflected TEM mode, unlike that of the incident mode, reveals the anomaly of being concentrated at the outer waveguide surface due to the wall anisotropy.
