Abstract
A compact 1‐to‐8 planar spatial power divider/combiner is proposed. It employs two dielectric substrates with a common ground plane. Two transitions are cascaded to divide power equally. The first transition is from a parallel stripline to two microstrip lines and the second transition is from oversized microstrip line to parallel multiport microstrip lines. A line taper is inserted to provide impedance match. The proposed structure is compact and has little possibility to stimulate high‐order modes wave. A working prototype at 4–6 GHz is designed and fabricated. Measured results show a good agreement with simulated ones and an input reflection coefficient of less than −15 dB is achieved. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
