We show that there exist graphs of Cartesian maps, of finite mass, which cannot be approximated weakly as currents by graphs of smooth maps with equibounded area. ## 1998 Academic Press This paper deals with the relaxed extension of the nonparametric area functional for vector valued maps. Let 0

We prove direct and inverse theorems for the classical modulus of smoothness and approximation by algebraic polynomials in \(L_{p}[-1,1]\). These theorems contain the well-known theorems of A. Timan, V. Dzyadyk, G. Freud, and Yu. Brudnyi as special cases when \(p=x\). They also provide a characteriz

## Abstract Primary nerve repair yields better results than secondary reconstruction but is not always possible. We reviewed a series of 2,181 fresh nerve injuries of the upper limb. One nerve only was injured in 41% of the patients; two or more in 59%. One thousand four hundred eightyโ€two injuries
