✦ Synopsis

described the construction of a high pressure chamber in which nearly hydrostatic pressures up to 11 kbar could be obtained at the temperatures of liquefied gases. In a variant of this bomb made of beryllium bronze for working in a magnetic field, a pressure of 8 kbar at 4.2 ° K could be attained. On the basis of this design two roughly equivalent forms of a high pressure chamber were developed in which hydrostatic pressure up to 18 kbar at helium temperatures could be obtained. As the chambers are made entirely of non-magnetic materials, investigations of metallic and semiconducting single crystals can be carried out in magnetic fields.
