โœฆ Synopsis

Formation and breaking of internal gravity waves contributing to a very significant increase in turbulence in the atmospheric surface layer over the Atlantic Ocean off Long Island, New York are reported. Contrary to the bursts that are characteristically of short duration, this increase in turbulence lasted for more than one hour and was typical of what one would observe during unstable atmospheric conditions. However, mean temperature profiles indicated strong stable conditions.

Oscillations in the middle layer of a three-layer atmosphere induced by sources located in the lower layer are investigated. In every layer the Brunt-Vfiis~ilfi frequencies are constants and increase with height. The general solution obtained by the methods of integral transforms is presented in the

The process of constant flux spectra formation is studied numerically, for the case of angular anisotropy. The method of investigation is based on a numerical solution of the nonlinear four-wave kinetic equation for gravity waves, added with the terms of a source and a sink for wave energy. Stationa

The surface and internal waves in a multilayered ideal liquid for specified displacements of the bottom are considered. The upper surface of the liquid is either free or displacements are specified on it. In the long-wave approximation, asymptotically accurate models of the waves propagating along t
