The '3C N M R spectra of sixteen 4-ene-3-keto-and 1,4-diene-3-keto corticosteroids are described.

Substituent shifts and the effect of added methanol-d, are reported, and conformational distortions and intramolecular hydrogen bonding are analysed based on these data.

Eggert and Djerassil suggested that a reliable prediction of 13C NMR spectra of polyfunctional steroid olefins should be based o n experimental values for models that contain the parent unsaturated skeleton.
