The one-dimensional constant coefficient advection-diffusion equation is employed to this end. The effective diffusion coefficient is determined exactly and is found to be dependent on th

β¦ Synopsis
I am pleased to announce the initiation of another new cluster of articles that will periodically be published in Cancer. Steven Hajdu, M.D., has kindly volunteered to author a new series on the history of oncology. As many of you may know, Dr. Hajdu is an internationally renowned pathologist who is responsible for many seminal contributions, particularly in the area of soft tissue sarcoma. He also has been recognized for his innovative cytology studies of human cancer in tissue cultures and nude mice.
Dr. Hajdu emigrated from his native Hungary to the U.S. as a political refugee in 1961. After completing a residency in pathology and receiving board certification, he joined the staff of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he remained for the ensuing 25 years. Dr. Hajdu served for 12 years as Chief of Pathology at the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.
Dr. Hajdu has pursued a long-time avocational interest in collecting antiquarian books, particularly those in the area of medical history. He has kindly volunteered to share this passion by contributing articles concerning the history of oncology to Cancer. These articles will draw on his broad-based international and historical perspectives in oncology while incorporating original source materials from his own large personal collection.
