Abstract

Aspirin use is frequently omitted from the medical records of people with diabetes. In this study we revised our clinical review form to document aspirin usage amongst patients with large vessel disease. In a comparison of 50 β€˜old’ and 50 β€˜new’ forms used in patient groups comparable for age and gender, the proportion of patients documented as taking aspirin was significantly higher on the new forms (p = 0.001). We suggest that the inclusion of a simple box on clinical review forms is likely to improve documentation and appropriate use of aspirin in both primary and secondary prevention.
