✦ Synopsis
In practice the prediction of dynamic loadings ofproducts, particularly of consumer durables, may be complex. A relatively new method has been developed to model the dynamic structure of such products which only implicitly makes use of mathematics: the bond graph method. In this article the method has been applied to investigate the dynamic behaviour of vacuum cleaners. With this model a simulation of important deflections and reaction forces is performed to predict critical values. The results show very good agreement with experimental data. The method promises to be of good use to design engineers.
