✦ Synopsis

A new model of substrate recognition for aminoacyl-tRNA ligases is described. It is possible to distinguish all amino acids in a binary code system of five binary digits, and all known E. coli and yeast tRNAs in a system of six to eight digits. The code agrees with experimental results published in the literature.
