✦ Synopsis

A four metre He-Ne laser in k folded configuration for use in Raman spectroscopy is described. Two methods of folding the resonator are discussed. The folding arrangement employing spherical mirrors was found to give the highest output (320 mW). Details of construction and optimum operating parameters are given.
