✦ Synopsis
Liquid fuels (derived liquid fuels)
and 540 mm) by using a special pyrolysis reactor (fractionating pyrolysis reactor), the results are recorded. Depending on the reaction conditions, the used oil can be selectively converted to a mixture of liquid and gas product with high yields of conversions by using the reactor. All these products can efficiently be used as fuels and chemical raw materials.

Low-NO, combustion technique by mixing water into oil-fired boilers
Takahashi, K. Aromatikkusu, 1998, 50, (9-lo), 307-312. (In Japanese) A combustion method is presented as an alternative technique of emulsion combustion, which helps to reduce NO, emission and smoke from oil-fired boilers and incinerators. The principle of the technique is as follows: liquid fuel is mixed with water at the tip of the nozzle to form emulsion by utilizing the swirling power of high pressure atomization and burns immediately. When this method was applied to kerosene, NO, emission decreased from around 95 ppm to ~60 ppm and in the case of A-heavy oil, from around 110 ppm to ~80 ppm. In addition, the amount of smoke decreased in both cases. This article describes the characteristics of the technique and presents the results of a demonstration using actual boilers with kerosene and A-heavy oil.
