โฆ Synopsis
This study aimed to develop an efficient coal feeding system for a coal gasifier. Through experimentation using a lock-hopper type of pneumatic coal feeding system with a capacity of 0.5 ton/day, data was amassed. Two kinds of coal were used: the average particle size of Bays Water was 23 pm and the average particle size of Wit Bank was 29 I'm. The theoretical and experimental results for the friction factor and pressure loss were compared. When used with friction factors calculated by Haaland's model for gas and Konno and Saito's model for solid, the Darcy equation gave a calculation result in quite good agreement with the experimental results.
