✦ Synopsis

Silica-containing substances and alkyl-containing surfactants are reacted to give a silica-micelle composite, which is dried and then fired to produce silica catalysts. The pore size and the specific surface area of the catalyst is controlled by the numbers of carbon in alkyl groups of the surfactants. It is possible to prepare catalysts with ideal pore size and specific surface area, depending on their uses.
