A method for the manufacture of blast-furnace coke is described. It comprises coking a coal blend in a coke oven by loading a blend having a bulk density of >0.74 t/m3 and containing high-swelling coal (swelling pressure >20 kPa) and low-coalification coal (volatile matter 30-40% and swelling ratio >O%) 40-70 wt%.
