✦ Synopsis

The studies of pyridin-soluble fraction of bituminous coals in different coalification history provide some chemical structural information on either the fraction or the parent coal, despite there being no known parent coal composite structure. Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) has proved to be a potential tool in the elucidatign of particle-and agglomeratecharacteristics in the range of 20-1000 A in solutions. The SANS technique was used to study deutrized pyridin solutions of pyridin extractions and a C&-N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone extraction.

The degrees of association to form molecular cluster and cluster aggregate in these solutions were different for different coals and with different solvents. The results also indicate some intriguing prospect on the kinds of processing that can be used in coal conversion technology. QQlQ1786 X-rav diffraction characteristics of Ceshui Forma--_.-..--~~ tion coal in Lianynan coal basin, China Bi, H. Chin. .I. Geochem., 1998, 17, (2) 170-174. X-ray diffraction technique was used to analyse Ceshui Formation coal and its roof mud-stone from the Lianynan coal basin. Telemagnetic metamorphism was found to be the main factor leading to the metamorphism of the Ceshui Formation coal in the study region. It has a great impact on the chemical structure of the Ceshui coal series. The dynamic metamorphism is of local and secondary importance.
