17 Process heating, power and incineration (energy applications in industry) 98lo4095 Development of industrial base with present-day technology by upgrading of blast furnaces Kotov, K. I. et al. Metall. Gomotudn. Prom-sr., 1997, (2), 4-8. (In Russian) With emphasis on modernized operation and increased efficiency, the reconstruction of two older blast furnaces with a working volume of 1323 and 1756 m3, at the Durgapur Metallurgy Complex in India, was evaluated.
A coke efficiency of 520 kg C/ton of pig iron was displayed by the modernized blast furnaces and a further decrease was feasible despite the use of high-ash coke and AIz03-containing slag. The pig iron productivity was projected at 1.3-1.4 ton/m3/24 h, with 0.025% level of sulfur impurity. 9alO4096
