✦ Synopsis
16 Fuel science and technology (fundamental science, analysis, instrumentation) Alternatively it is the height at or above which the entrainment flux comes down to a nearly constantlevel.
A correlation has been determined for the TDH on the basis of experimental observation of coal particles, with a density of 1690 kg/m', from a liquid-fluidized bed. Water was used in a Perspex fluidizing column, having an inside diameter of 0.1143 m and a height of 2.89 m. Four different size fractions of coal were tested.
Preparation, properties, and regeneration of activated sorbents from subbituminous Spanish coals
Rivera-Utrilla, J. et al. K&m. Tverd. Topl., 1996, (4), 28-38. (In Russian) A two-step process of pyrolysis and steam activation, was used to prepare activated carbon sorbents from raw and demineralized sub-bituminous coal. The effect of demineralization and steam activation on the obtained surface area and pore structure was studied. Adsorption activity of the carbon was investigated using phenol and phenolic compounds in aqueous media. Thermal decomposition of phenol, m-aminophenol, and p-nitrophenol was also studied.

Problems in measurement of expansion pressure of coking coals Fojtik, Z. et al. Hutn. Listy, 1997, 52, (l), 3-7. (In Czech) Discusses the definition and formation mechanism of expansion pressure of a coking coal, a laboratory apparatus for measuring the expansion pressure and computer software for the apparatus.
