✦ Synopsis

16 Fuel science and technology (fundamental science, analysis, instrumentation) benzene adsorption and mercury porosimetry, the porous structure was characterized.

Balance calculations expressing quantitative differences in the properties within the granules proved their high ununiformity caused by decrease in burn-off degree towards the centre of the granules. The changes in catalyst distribution in granules have also been found.

Effect of helium density of coal on total conversion and benzene soluble product yield in hydrogenation and models for their predictions Singh, K. P. J. Sci. Ind. Res., 1997, 56, (7), 414-417. Helium density of coal is a very important parameter in the hydrogenation process. A linear correlation was found between the total conversion and benzene soluble product yield with helium density of coal. The total conversion is found to correlate with helium density with a correlation coefficient of 0.97. The benzene soluble product yield is found to correlate with helium density, and wt% hydrogen with correlation coefficient 0.95.

Effect of particle size, particle size distribution, specific gravity, and solids concentration on centrifugal pump performance Kazim, K. A. and Maiti, B. Powder Handf. Process., 1997, 9, (1) 27-32. In order to predict the effects of suspended solids on centrifugal pump performance for optimum design and operation of slurry handling systems, experiments with slurries of different materials, including sand, coal, mild steel, Zn, and Fe ore were carried out. The results are presented in the terms of head ratio and efficiency ratio for different slurry conditions. For any given discharge rate and slurry concentration, efficiency ratio is general lower than the head ratio.

A simplified, first order model of diffusion and reaction in a carbon molecular sieve catalyst for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons has been developed. The model identifies the key parameters in determining the expected product distributions from these new catalyst structures. Model r
