The waste gases produced from phthalic anhydride manufacture over metallurgical slags activated by leaching with oxalic acid and promoted with Co104, CuCo201, or CuC204 were oxidized with 100% removal efficiency of phthalic and maleic anhydrides. This figure was 98% in the removal of naphthoquinone and CO.
