In order to obtain the desired particle size distribution, the coal is pulverized in micronized coal water slurry preparation (MCWS). The need for introducing a precleaning stage prior to the final slurry formulation and the potential advantages and disadvantages of an integrated cleaning/size reduction process are discussed.
