โœฆ Synopsis

The paper presents the spontaneous heating tendency of Raniganj coals based on chemical method. emphasising the degree of oxidation of coals. The susceptibility potentials of coals increase with increase in the degree of oxidation in-.Gfu in the mines. which will help in locating the possible seat of heating of the seams, resulting in spontaneous heating. As a comparison, the crossing point of some other Raniganj coals have also been determined using the same treatment as in the chemical method.

This work investigates the effect of the moisture content of coal on its spontaneous ignition in oxygen (40ยฐC-140ยฐC). It has been found that the highest heating rate is achieved at a medium moisture content of ~ 7 wt% for an initial inherent moisture content of the coal before drying (in dry nitroge
