✦ Synopsis
The rotor speed and the degree of fouling of the transfer surfaces determines the degree of corrosion on heat-transfer surfaces of rotary heat exchangers.
These are used in preheating combustion air in coal-fired boilers. For example, by decreasing the rotor speed from 0.7 to 0.3 rpm, HF transfer can be halved, from 37% to 18%; if the cleanest heat-transfer surface is used, this transfer can be halved again, to 8%.
