✦ Synopsis

The first time application of controlled-flaw, split-flame (CFISF) low-NO, hurrier design. used on wall-fired boilers in a tangential-fired boiler is reported. The focus is on short-term optimization testing and long-term emission monitoring results. This demonstration achieved desired NO, emission reductions and developed a production model tangential low NO, (TLN) burner design based upon a prototype burner system installed in 1992. Data reported is from operational testing of the production model tangential low NO,. CF!SF burner system installed in 1994. 97/02088 Design and construction of a vapor-free and lownoise hybrid cooling tower with environmentally friendly water treatment by ozone for a gas and steam power station in the Netherlands Zimmermann, P. and Hamers. J. P. VGR K~uftwer~rtcck. 19Yh. 76. (6). SO2-505. (In German) Details are given of a gas and steam power station with hybrid cooling tower plant. Expensive noise protection arrangements reduced nuisance noise to a minimum. A control concept optimizes close-circuit cooling and the stations internal power demand. The dry section was only connected if this was necessary for vapour-free operation. The treatment of the cooling circuit with ozone eliminated chemicals from the discharge water. 97102089 Design and performance of a circulating fluidized bed boiler firing stone coal Luo. Z. cr crl. Proc. Inr. C'ortf. Fluid. Bed Comhusr., 1995, 13, (I), hlY-623. The paper reports the design and performance of a demonstrating 35 T/H circulating fluidized hed boiler firing stone coal. Features include a low recycle rate and unique downward gas exit cyclones in the medium tcmpcrature region between the superheater and the economizer to reduce the size of the cyclone separators. This also allows a more compact reversed U general arrangement. Based on computer-aided testing, some different anti-erosion components are employed to maintain an acceptable lifetime of the heating surfaces. The boiler demonstrates high combustion efficiency and low emissions with staged combustion. 97102090 Design considerations for a 250 MWe CFB. Voylcs. R. EI nl. Proc~. Irlt. Cm/'. Fluid. Bed Comhust., 1095. 13. (2) 70% 71 I. A company is underatking the construction of a 250 MWe bituminous fired circulating fluid hed cogeneration facility which will provide up to 400,000 lhih of steam to a local paper company. The single boiler will produce 7,100.000 lb/h (YS3 MT/h) of main steam at 2550 psig (17.58 Mp) at I005 F (5410 ) with reheat and will he the largest CFB in the world when completed. The design considerations of the CFB covered include: scale up to 250 MWe. full division wall-absorption. expansion. circulation, and erosion resistance. integrated recycle heat exchange, solids mixing for proper fuel/limestone utilization and heat flux balance within a large unit, cyclone orientation, non-mechanical air cooled solids removal. and parallel pass damper HRA.
