โฆ Synopsis
Presents a study into the co-combustion of polyethylene of various particle size and its mixtures with other plastics together with natural gas and with pulverized coal. The study was conducted in an experimental combustion chamber. The combustion behaviour was assessed by means of CO, COZ, organic C, and 0 measurements in flue gas and by visual observations. Plastic particles with diameter <2 mm were successfully incinerated in the experimental plant at up to 80% of the total thermal load. Combustion of plastics as additional fuel in power plants is discussed.
