✦ Synopsis

A novel 3-step regenerative, high-temperature process for coal gas desulphurization using calcined limestone as a sorbent includes: (1) reaction of H,S with CaO (sulphidation), (2) partial oxidation with SO, in a second step to obtain CaSO, and S", and (3 k regeneration of the solid mixture of CaS and CaSO, to form CaO and S r, which are both reused in the first two steps. Elemental sulphur is the final product. Several sulphidation-oxidation regeneration cycles were carried out in a thermogravimetric analyzer using various caicined limestones. The results showed a constant absorption capacity of 30-50% from two cycles on.
