โœฆ Synopsis

The amount of expansion on exfoliation is determined principally by the parent stage rather than the actual intercalate concentration. The amount of expansion increases with increasing stage of the parent compound before desorption. For the same parent stage, a higher concentration produces a larger expansion.

The nuclear hyperfine technique of time-differential perturbed angular correlations has been applied to the study of graphite intercalation compounds. Values are obtained for the electric field gradients and the quadrupole frequencies of the intercalated probe nuclei. Specifically, three species are

## Abstract **Summary:** Biodegradable poly[(__R__)โ€3โ€hydroxybutyrate] (P(3HB)) fibers with high tensile strength of 1.32 GPa were processed from ultraโ€highโ€molecularโ€weight P(3HB) by a method combining coldโ€drawing and twoโ€stepโ€drawing procedures at room temperature. The distribution of molecular
