2H-Benzopyrans (chromenes) and their analogues are the subject of considerable current interest due to their highly desirable photochromic properties. Although the benzopyran fragment in the title compound, C 21 H 15 BrO, is roughly planar, the pyran ring may be regarded as having a half-chair conformation.
