slurry mixture is ground and heated up in order to evaporate any remaining water and solvent from the slurry. The grinding step grinds the ink and any foreign material to create an ink emulsion characterized as having particles smaller than or equal to the size of the original virgin ink from which the waste ink is derived. The evaporation step may be performed either before and during the grinding step, or only during the grinding step.
