In Brief β’ The Dow Chemical Co is eliminating approximately 5000 full-time jobs, closing 20 facilities in highcost locations and divesting several non-strategic businesses. The job losses represent an 11% reduction in Dow's global workforce. Dow says that it will also temporarily idle approximately 180 plants and significantly reduce its contractor workforce worldwide by about 6000, in response to the current economic downturn. Dow is transforming to a lean Corporate Center, a shared Business Services group and three business operating models, effective January 2009. The new Dow will comprise three different business operating models: Joint Ventures/ Asset Light; Performance Products; and Health & Agriculture, Advanced Materials and other Market Facing Businesses. Details on these business structures will be outlined in early 2009. www.dow.com β’ The Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel has granted Basin Water Inc continued listing on The Nasdaq Global Market provided the company files its quarterly reports on Form 10-Q for the periods ended 30 June 2008 and 30 September 2008 and any restatements of prior periods that may be required by 10 February 2009. If Basin Water is unable to meet the deadline, the company's shares will be delisted from The Nasdaq Stock Market.
