✦ Synopsis

Molecules of the title compound, C 17 H 16 O 3 , are linked via intermolecular CÐHÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds into in®nite chains, made up of centrosymmetric bimolecular aggregates stretching along the a axis of the crystal. The 4-methylbenzene group and the carbonyl moiety are almost coplanar, and the dihedral angle between the planes of 2-(4-methylbenzoyloxy) and 5-methylacetophenone is 78.81 (5) .
