The title compound, C 11 H 10 N 2 O 2 , has been synthesized by the reaction of 2-(trichloroacetyl)pyrrole with 4-(hydroxymethyl)pyridine. In the solid state, the molecules form a onedimensional infinite ladder structure through intermolecular N-HÁ Á ÁN and C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds.
