In the title molecule, C 11 H 8 BrO 4 S 2 , all bond lengths and angles are within normal ranges. Strong intermolecular O-HÁ Á ÁO interactions link the molecules into centrosymmetric dimers.
The title compound, C 16 H 18 N 2 O 2 S, shows antibacterial and antifungal activities. The dihedral angle between the thiophene and 2-methylphenyl groups is 83.3 (1) . There are intraand intermolecular NÐHÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, and CÐ HÁ Á ÁO intermolecular interactions.
In the title compound, C 12 H 9 BrN 2 O, (I), the pyridyl and bromophenyl rings are almost coplanar. There is an intramolecular NÐHÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond between the pyridine N atom and the amide N atom [NÁ Á ÁN = 2.657 (3) A Ê and NÐ HÁ Á ÁN = 112.6 ].
