✦ Synopsis
The title compound, C 22 H 16 N 4 O, displays a trans configuration with respect to the -N N-double bond, as found for other diazene derivatives. There is a weak intramolecular C-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond, which seems to have an effect on the molecular conformation. The crystal packing is governed by weak intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁN and C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, and weak C-HÁ Á Á stacking.

In the molecule of the title compound, C 14 H 14 N 2 O 2 , the two rings display a trans configuration with respect to the N N double bond. The molecules are linked by intermolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.
In the title compound, C 16 H 12 N 2 O 2 , the 2-methoxyphenoxy and phthalonitrile planes make a dihedral angle of 83.42 (7) .
The title phthalonitrile derivative, C 14 H 6 BrClN 2 O, contains two aromatic rings, which are almost perpendicular.
