The title compound, C 16 H 10 N 4 O 2 , is an organic red pigment utilized for hydrogen gas sensors. The centrosymmetric diketopyrrolopyrrole is nearly planar and is linked to four neighbouring molecules via N-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bonds to form a two-dimensional network in the (201) plane.
The crystal structure of the title compound, C 21 H 18 N 2 O 5 , was determined in order to study the electrocyclic reactivity of 3,4diaryl-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione derivatives. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds form sheets.
The title compound, C 21 H 19 N 5 , has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The dihedral angle between the benzene and triazole rings is 123.0 (5) . The triazole ring forms dihedral angles of 36.5 (5) and 50.1 (5) with the two pyridyl rings.
