Lanostane derivatives, in which the angular methyl carbon attached to C-14 (32-methyl) bears an oxygen function are of considerable interest as probable intermediates in the enzymatic conversion of lanosterol to cholesterol,' and as intermediates for non-enzymatic dernethylation reactions as well.
