The title compound, C~18~H~13~BrO~2~S, is chiral due to the twist of the naphthalene and thienyl rings about the chalcone backbone [dihedral angle = 17.75 (10)°]. There are weak C—H...O interactions which link the molecules into chains in the __b__ direction.
