The mass spectrometric behaviour of some two-coordinated linear gold(I) complexes has been studied by fast atom bombardment (FAB) and laser desorption/ionisation (LDI) methods. The results obtained demonstrate some interesting aspects of Au-Au interactions. The detection under FAB conditions of Au n

✦ Synopsis
Cf plasma desorption mass spectrometry was applied to some series of ionic coordination compounds and was demonstrated to yield better results than fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Intra-ligand fragmentation was observed regularly, and evidence was also obtained for a fission fragment-induced methylene transfer reaction.
