The title compound, C 16 H 6 F 12 , has been obtained as a byproduct of the reaction between 2,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyllithium and zinc(II) chloride. The asymmetric unit contains two independent molecules with a similar almost perpendicular conformation of the biphenyl fragments.
